Why are Lebanese editions more expensive?

Three concrete reasons: heavier paper, sewn binding on multi-volume sets, and text verification work that takes years. You are not paying for a brand but for an object built to be consulted for twenty years and a text collated against manuscripts. For a first reading, an Egyptian edition costs less and is often enough.

What is a muhaqqiq and why does the name matter?

The muhaqqiq is the person who establishes the text: collating manuscripts, noting variants, identifying quotations and hadiths, and writing the notes. Two editions of the same treatise can differ over whole passages depending on the manuscripts used. The name appears on the cover and on our product pages; it is the first thing to check.

Are large multi-volume sets suitable for a beginner?

Rarely, and not because of the language level: a twelve-volume collection with critical apparatus is a consultation tool, not a book you read cover to cover. Start with a matn or an abridgement, and buy the full set when you need to check a chain of transmission or a variant.

How are multi-volume sets packed?

Each set is packed separately and padded, because the spine is the fragile point in transit — that is where volumes get marked when they shift inside the box. If a parcel arrives damaged, photograph it before fully opening it; that is enough for us to handle the claim.

Are Dar Ibn Hazm Lebanon and Dar Ibn Hazm Egypt the same house?

No. They are two independent houses sharing a name, with no subsidiary link. Their catalogues do not overlap and their production differs. We gave them two separate pages so you know exactly which edition you are ordering.
