How does this differ from the site's Family section?

The approach. Here, the legal treatment: the nikah and talaq chapters, conditions, evidence, differences between schools. In the Family section, the books written to accompany household life, advice and conduct. Same subject, two uses, and the choice depends on what you want.

What about a divorce pronounced by a civil court?

That does not appear in the older treatises, which do not envisage the situation. You need a recent fatwa collection, particularly those devoted to life in a non-Muslim country. We state the year of publication and the scope on the product page.

Are the rulings for women in worship here?

Yes, they are part of the scope: purification, prayer, fasting, pilgrimage, dress, travel. You will also find them in the collections of the Women in Islam shelf, which gather them in one place rather than scattered through the chapters.

Does the school change much here?

Yes, markedly: the conditions of the wali, the valid forms of talaq, the length of the 'idda in certain cases, the scale of the nafaqa. It is one of the chapters where it is worth taking a comparative work alongside your school's manual.
