Are medical procedures covered?

Not in the classical manuals, which reason about the cases of their own time. For a drip, an inhaler, a blood test or anaesthesia, you need a recent work or a fatwa collection. We state the year of publication and the presence of a medical section on the product page.

Are the exemptions for women covered?

Yes: menstruation, post-natal period, pregnancy and nursing, with the detail of making up the days and, depending on the case, of compensation. The Women in Islam shelf also gathers the collections devoted entirely to these questions.

What exactly is the kaffara?

The compensation due in certain cases of breaking the fast, distinct from simply making up the day. Its scale and the cases where it applies differ by school, and it is one of the points where a comparative manual helps. The works here detail it chapter by chapter.

Are the voluntary fasts included?

Yes: Monday and Thursday, the six days of Shawwal, Ashura, the day of Arafa, and the days on which fasting is discouraged or forbidden. Some collections are devoted entirely to them, with the texts and their degree of authenticity for each.

Does i'tikaf belong here?

Yes, the treatises place it at the end of the fasting chapter, and works are devoted to it: conditions, place, duration, what interrupts it, and what may be done during it. It is the most requested part as the last ten days approach.
