In what order should these matns be memorised?

Tuhfat al-atfal first, 61 lines on the basic rules. Al-Muqaddima al-jazariyya next, around 110 lines, adding the points of articulation and the characteristics of the letters. Ash-Shatibiyya and Ad-Durra al-mudiyya come much later, and only if you move into the qira'at.

Bare text or commented edition?

For memorising, the bare text: the page stays short, the visual marker is stable and the volume fits a pocket. The commentary is bought separately and belongs to the tajwid rules shelf. Many editions offer both together, which is handy but makes memorisation heavier.

Are the matns vowelled?

We list only fully vowelled matns: on a text meant to be recited, vowelling is not a comfort but a condition. We also check the numbering of the lines, which serves for orientation and for organising review. Both points are stated on the product page.

Why is Ash-Shatibiyya so long?

Because it covers the seven readings with their transmitters, in more than a thousand lines. It is a specialist text, memorised after the two tajwid matns and within a followed course of study. On this title the editor matters, since variant lines are significant there.
