دار ابن حزم (مصر)

This page gathers the works of Dar Ibn Hazm in Egypt available in the My Maktaba catalogue. It is a house distinct from the Lebanese Dar Ibn Hazm, which bears the same name without being the same company: the catalogues overlap only in part and the making differs. For each title, the listing states the year, the number of volumes, the format, the paper, the binding and the nature of the editorial work. Everything is new and in Arabic.

What is the difference from Dar Ibn Hazm in Lebanon?

They are two distinct companies bearing the same name. Their catalogues overlap only in part and their making differs: paper, typography, binding, and sometimes the annotation work on one title. Each has its own page on the site.

How do I know which one I am buying?

The page says so and so does the product listing: we state the origin as it appears on the title page of the copy we ship. If you are ordering an edition recommended by a teacher, state the country in your message.

Which of the two is better?

It depends on the title. On average Lebanese making is more consistent, but the Egyptian version is often well cheaper, and on some titles it is annotated where the other is not. Compare the two listings when the title exists on both sides.

How do I know whether the edition is annotated?

The listing says so, with the number of volumes, the presence of indexes and the nature of the editorial work. An annotated and indexed edition serves better than a better printed one with no critical apparatus.

Can I order a title that is not listed?

Yes. Send us the title, the country of publication you want and, if you know it, the year. Our network of booksellers covers most of the editions in circulation.
